STOP (Students Taking On Prevention) the Violence is Ridgemont’s Bully Awareness Campaign is completed in partnership with Crossroads Crisis Center. We
collaborated with Crossroads Crisis Center (CCC), Gifted English
Classes, Geometry Classes, FCCLA and FFA to plan the first STOP the
Violence (Students Taking On Prevention) Week at Ridgemont School. The
entire STOP committee (100%) planned and implemented the steps and 94%
(268 students) took part in the evaluation of the week.
FFA Members taught 8 exceptional activities about respecting each other, impacts of bullying, and results of domestic violence. CCC
assisted with a riveting “Please Remember Me” assembly, which
graphically illustrated the impacts of domestic violence by telling the
stories of the silhouettes, who were people who died at the hands of
domestic violence. In addition, resources were provided to assist those who may be involved in negative relationships.
Ridgemont
students provide meaningful service by providing supplies and money for
20 Baskets of Hope Easter Baskets, 20 Baskets of Hope Mom Bags, and 44
kites made by geometry classes. The $15,000 Sprint Grant
was applied for to expand this program next year by starting the
Igniting Leaders training program, funding will be announced May 2010. |
